Death And Taxes | Documentary Idea

by tdag
(USA)

I was arrested in 2006 trafficking in marijuana and sentenced to two years probation. I paid fines and served my probation without incident. Now ten years later I am married and hoping to one day have children. I'm thinking my wife and I will start around the time she takes my last name.

Currently I owe $123,762.33 for taxes on the illegal marijuana I was "in possession" of ten years ago and she's not budging till this thing is settled.

I'm on a search for answers as to why things like this are allowed to happen to people. For years this torture has eaten away at my soul and ruined my life. I cannot allow it to destroy my wife's sanity, my marriage, and my ability to one day provide for a family. Especially, when you consider all that they have taken from me already.

There is a simple solution to ending the war on drugs and thats following the money. The money in my case, or at least %75 of it go's back to the arresting agency…….

I'll let that sink in…..

I'd like to highlight my story and use it focus on following the money. I believe that when enough people realize much of their own tax money is wasted so others can continue to gain they will stand up as I have chosen to do and ask, WHY?

We birthed a beast when the drug war was started and now its time to put that bitch down.

If you own a dog and she attacks another person, that dog is put down. It's time to put a leash on the governments attack dog, its time to end the war on drugs.

I went bankrupt.
by: Tom DAguanno

It’s kind of over. The bankruptcy cleared all my debt. Gave up trying to fight it after my son was born. Still dealing with the trauma of the whole thing.

documentary as activism
by: Anonymous

What an evil "justice" system you live under!
I see your film as a court battle. Get legal buy in and shoot the film a an activist piece to have these enslavement laws changed.

Awesome idea
by: Anonymous

I think this idea would be wonderful. Too many people are victims of the drug war and you are a prime example of one of them.

Doing your time. Punishment above and beyond justice
by: Anonymous

I have a similar idea where showing that justice follows you to death, there is no doing the time and your free again. Any criminal punishment is a life sentence and becomes cruel and unusual punishment, this is what your record does to you. I see this as unjust, also to include you lose your right to vote as a felon which is the same as losing representation as a citizen, its like your no longer a citizen. Your situation is Tortue by Government.

I like your idea

I agree with you that there has to be a more sensible method of dealing with the drug issue. The alcohol probation brought us organized crime that is still with us to this day. The drug prohibition has brought us the cartels which are much more lawless then Capone and the boys ever were. We have created hundreds of thousands of criminals that would most likely would have had a much more useful life if the present system didn't exist.

We are raised with it and the drug stigmatism runs deep. yet we tolerate alcohol and tobacco because it's lawmakers drug of choice. The Oregon experiment has shown that every one of the fears we had about the legalization of pot was completely unfounded.

Canada it seems is now moving into barely charted waters but it is something that I think is the right thing to do in their move to legalize pot. Kids can get a joint a lot quicker then they can a beer or at least anywhere I have lived.

You're brave to put it out there. It seems like a true crime to keep persecuting you years after you have done your time.
You'd almost want to rob a bank to pay your tax bill. I think yours is a nobel cause and I wish you the best of luck. Wish i could help in some way because society would be a better place if were more rational about this issue.
