Documentary Rights for YouTube Clips

Question: I'm planning to make a documentary about a person, we both are keen on working on this together. He has many clips on YouTube, can I use them? I'm not sure where to get permission for them? I'm a total beginner in this, the only thing I have is he is willing to work with me and has a massive fan base where people crave more about him.

Answer: You say that the person who has all the clips on YouTube wants to work with you? If he owns the clips on YouTube and he is giving you permission to use them, then you are good to go. Maybe you are saying that some of the footage he has uploaded to YouTube is not his? Without more details it is difficult for me to help you figure out how to tell you to get permission. Please give a specific example and I will try to help.
