True lives of Catholic school teachers

by Liz
(Louisville)

This documentary idea explores what it is really like to be a teacher in a Catholic school.

Most people think that private school teachers get paid better than their public school counterparts but they are wrong. Catholic school teachers get paid just well enough to not qualify for public assistance. We have almost no budget for our classrooms and constantly take verbal abuse from parents and students.

Parents pay thousands of dollars a year to have their kids in Catholic school and their teachers many times don't make enough to send their kids to the same school where they teach.

I want to show people what it is really like to be a teacher in a Catholic school, the personal and professional stress.

power to the teachers
by: webmaster

It is certainly a shame that teachers are not better compensated. This is a very important story and one that needs attention. I'm wondering if you have any innovative solutions for the problem. Perhaps look at other countries or communities.. anyone getting it right? One interesting angle might be to look at this issue from the eyes of the students.
