Unemployment: We want to work

by Robert Vincent
(Ashford, Kent, UK)

The documentary idea is to follow a group of long term unemployed through their everyday job hunting and things they do to get work etc. But also to line up interviews on their behalf. No matter if these are low skilled or suited to the candidate. Will they take the jobs or find a way to remain in the safety net of the benefits system?

video diaries

If you could find 5-10 people willing to document their job-seeking process on a flip video camera... you could weave that footage in and out of interviews with experts and psychologists. Make sure you get each person to turn on the camera especially at their darkest moments. You want them to capture their ups and downs. That's where you'll capture the drama for a compelling documentary.
